NIA and NLA partnership to help landlords meet new regulations

The National Insulation Association (NIA) has announced they have partnered with the National Landlords Association (NLA) to provide landlords with an easy to use online facility to find local insulation installers to help meet energy efficiency standards.

Both organisations are advising landlords that they should be taking action soon in order to upgrade their properties by 1st April 2018. This is when the Minimum Energy Efficiency Standard (MEES) will come into force and require rented properties to have an EPC rating of E or above before they can be legally let.

£104 Million to Improve Energy Efficiency Across Wales

The Welsh Government has announced it is investing £104 million over the next four years to increase the energy efficiency of up to 25,000 homes across Wales.

The Warm Homes Programme provides funding for home energy efficiency improvements to low income households and those living in deprived communities across Wales.

As well as Welsh Government funding, around £24 million of European funding will go towards the programme.

GOVERNMENT CHANGES WELCOMED BY WETHERBY

Government Increases Target for Solid Wall Insulation

The Government has increased the target for Solid Wall Insulation (SWI) measures from 17,000 a year to 21,000 a year following last years ECO transition consultation.

Key policy decisions include;

An 18 month extension to the ECO scheme (April 2017 – September 2018). Introduction of a more simplified and targeted scheme. The Affordable Warmth Group will be increased to around 4.7m rather than 4m (in consultation) households. This will include more households who are in fuel poverty, and those on lower incomes, who may be struggling to meet heating and other bills; eligibility for certain measures under Affordable Warmth will

New Quality Standards for Insulation Companies – NIA can help you to comply

From 1st April strict new national  quality standards will be introduced for cavity wall, external wall, loft insulation and room in roof insulation, as part of PAS2030, which installers will be required to work to.

The National Insulation Association (NIA) is involved in setting these new standards and they are helping their members to ensure they can comply with them by 1st April.

Colomberie rejuvenation project creating new homes and jobs for the town

The latest renovation project in Colomberie, St Helier has breathed new life and jobs into the town with the redevelopment of a tired office building situated on the corner of La Colomberie and Grenville Street.

The transformation has included a full refurbishment of the external envelope using Wetherby’s EpsiTherm EWI system which has helped rejuvenate the area and modernise the town centre.
